About ACSS:

ACSS (Audio-gd Current Signal System) is Audio-gd's system for transmitting audio signals in the current domain. This concept, first seen in 1966, we have used for many years, and since 2006, have evolved the technology to include all audio signals in our systems from the digital source to the power amplifier. Since 2007, ACSS components have become Audio-gd's most popular products, with a great many customers purchasing them in China and Hong Kong.

Follow some users advice, we add some vents on the Phoenix power box, the inside temperature drop.

  Please Note:
1,Before powering on the Phoenix, users must connect the DC power cables and data cable.
2, Phoenix sound is neutral and faithful like (very neutral and less coloration, just as " a wire with gain" ), its SQ depends most on the quality of the source and recording, if the source or recording is not good, then the sound quality will not be good either. Please keep in mind and think about this aspect if neutral and faithful like sound will suit your taste before you place an order for Phoenix.
3, In Phoenix volume control, memory function is default (users can cancel the memory function), volume display “00" is the minimum volume. While using Phoenix for the first time, users must make sure that the volume is set on minimum.
4, Because Phoenix apply the aluminium foot , if users want to stack or side by side place ,don't let the foot
and classis box or two classis box direct be joined .

Characteristics:
A true fully balanced headphone amp with preamp function.
Adopting the Current Audio Signal Transmission (ACSS) technology in audio circuits,so Phoenix sound as " a wire with gain" .
First in the world to apply ACSS technology in power transmission.
Power supply is a two stages class A parallel voltage regulator design.
Digital remote controller system with user defined functions and offers a high precision, no sonic degradation and smooth transition volume adjustment.
Use of LED display panel instead of the popular VFD display device, as VFD can cause disturbance in audio circuits.

Design Features:  The Phoenix applies ACSS (Current Audio Signal Transmission) technology. The heart of our ACSS technology is in the ultra low distortion BPM-7110 V2 module. The sound of Phoenix is neutral and faithful like, very neutral and sounds exceptionally clear and transparent. Soundstage is precise, three dimensional and huge, detailed and lifelike midrange, and transparent treble with tight and extended bass.

Phoenix has five pairs of inputs, one pair of ACSS current mode input, two pairs of balanced inputs on XLRs and two single-ended inputs on RCAs.  If the input signals are coming from XLRs and RCAs, they are internally converted into current signals and then amplified. To use the Phoenix as a preamplifier, there are 2 pairs of outputs, one XLR and one RCA for your power amp connections.

In order to minimize interference, the left and right channel circuitries are completely separated from the digital LED display and controller modules to minimize distortion of sound quality. Three special transformers are used to supply power separately for the audio and control circuit. The signal amplifying section and the voltage and control section are separately installed in different chassis which further enhances the transparency of the tone to its peak. To achieve a perfect performance, Phoenix also applies the complex two-stage parallel-stabilized voltage supply to get a purer power supply so that a better sound quality is guaranteed. We are the first people in the world to apply and make use of the ACSS power supply.

Phoenix uses a heavyweight all aluminum alloy chassis to prevent the eddy current of the transformer from interfering with the circuit board. Phoenix  net weight of 16KG. Furthermore, the interior is separated into 2 sections by aluminum boards for the best channel separation.

All the sockets of Phoenix use Hi-End grade products, and it is sealed by WBT silver solder. Everything that we have done has been for better audio and sensational effect.

The control function of Phoenix is very user friendly. The volume switch adopts IV method, which effectively decreases the effect on tone quality. The overall impedance is invariable, and the change of volume also applies in other ways. To lower the control circuit’s interference on the audio circuit,
we have applied a high-speed optocoupler to separate control signals and executing sessions; in the same way that other sky-high priced imported equipment adopts to improve quality. When not operational, the control circuit is stopped and the control signal is temporarily stored in the memory, which also outputs direct current levels to control the executing session. This will effectively eliminate the detrimental effect caused by long-time data output of an ordinary control circuit.

Phoenix has a memory function. It can independently memorize the status of the 5 input channel groups; and maintain them even when the machine is shut down. Unlike machines without a memory function, the input channel and volume do not need to be adjusted every time the machine is operated. This function brings a more convenient and pleasant way for users to enjoy music.

   About volume in ACSS circuits:

Phoenix use ACSS technology, which is very different from conventional technology.
In conventional technology the gain is fixed, like 3DB or 6DB.

But in ACSS technology the gain changes with volume, and while you close the volume, the gain is -80DB or -100DB (in conventional technology it can't work lower than 0DB).
While you are listening in normal volume, the gain may be around -50DB, or between -80 to +12DB.
The volume control is also different from conventional technology. Conventional technology volume control is placed in the input, and attenuates the signal.
But in ACSS, it is placed at the ACSS modules output, where the output is the current signal, not the voltage signal. The volume control is I/V change, and the volume depends on the current (I) change to the voltage (V). (Like D/A chips output I/V change)
As you can see, ACSS circuits have no gain, as it is a completely different circuit.
The SQ benefits from I/V change volume control. Mark Levinson also knows that current volume control has great benefits, so in their Top End preamp NO.32 volume control, they use many components to change the signal to become current signal (I), then through the R-2R network to control the volume, and then change back to voltage signal (V) again. But Phoenix is simply a more complete work in terms of the current signal, and technically, it is superior to conventional technology.
ACSS is fully non-feedback with very low distortion, so sound is neutral (neutral and faithful) because it has no feedback effect.

How to choice the function in Phoenix :
With the Phoenix, the user has a choice of 70 steps and 99 steps of volume control, and you can also choose whether to have volume memory.
1. Choose 70/99 steps volume control:
Step A: Push on the "Debug" switch.
Step B:  The display shows as below pix.
Step C: Turn the volume knob; choose display 70 or 99 on right.
Step D: Push off the "Debug" switch.

70 step volume control                      99 step volume control

2. Choose volume memory:
Step A: Push on the "Debug" switch.
Step B:  Turn the selector knob; let the display show as below pix.
Step C: Turn the volume knob; choose display "ON" or "OF" on left.
Step D: Push off the "Debug" switch.

Volume memory active.                          Volume memory off.

  The SQ style of Phoenix:

        " A wire with gain".

Usually, in our products, if I use ACSS technology, I will design the sound signature as neutral .Although I can change the style to other, such as tube like, warm, colored, but I personally love neutral sound.
Neutral in my mind, is neutral and faithful like, Phoenix doesn’t
t have any particular character, like our other ACSS products, its sound depends on the source, Phoenix reveals to you the merits  or shortcomings of your source. It only drives the HP, without coloration. I think, use of the word "neutral and faithful" will better than the use of "neutral".

  The input/output of Phoenix:

Phoenix has ample inputs and outputs, and includes two RCA inputs, two XLR inputs, and one ACSS input.
When fed with an RCA signal, Phoenix can change the RCA signal to an exact XLR signal at first, then change to a current signal to feed ACSS modules.
When fed with an XLR signal, Phoenix can re-proofread the XLR to complete mirror ( exact ) XLR signal, then change to current signal feed to ACSS modules. In cases where the source output XLR signal is not exact, (Hot signal level not same with cool signal level' absolute value) through this re-proofread process, it can correct the signal to produce an exact XLR signal.
In short, whatever the input might be, Phoenix will output XLR signal to Headphones, unless your HP is plugged into to SE output sockets.
Phoenix has one 4 pins and two 3 pins and one SE sockets as output.

Phoenix ACSS input can match to our follow DAC:

DAC Reference One

DAC Reference Two
       DAC-9MK3
